8.2.1: Distance Formula

The Distance Formula

The distance between two points $\left(x_1, y_1\right)$ and $\left(x_2, y_2\right)$ is found by using the following formula:

$$\sqrt{\left(x_1-x_2\right)^2+\left(y_1-y_2\right)^2}$$

The distance between two points $A$ and $B$ is the same as the length of the segment $\overline{AB}$.
